A restaurant wouldn’t be able to successfully function without kitchen porters. National KP day seeks to acknowledge kitchen porters across the industry, with organiser Winterhalter using the day to highlight the role of KPs and to thank them for their continued hard work.

This year National KP day will be celebrated on Saturday 22 June and is the perfect opportunity to honor your hardworking kitchen brigade while raising money for charity.

If you have fantastic KPs that you want to celebrate, simply share a picture of them on Twitter with the hashtag #kpday. For every picture received, Winterhalter will donate £1 to industry charity Hospitality Action, up to a maximum of £1,000.

Hospitality Action supports anyone who works or has worked in the UK’s hospitality industry who find themselves in crisis. It provides emergency grants for those in need, support for retired workers and education for students.

“We’ve raised a lot of money for great causes in the past,” said Stephen Kinkead, managing director of Winterhalter UK. “And we’ve had some great photos too, it’s always very heartening how eager the industry is to celebrate the work KPs do. We’re hoping to be able to raise lots of money for Hospitality Action. It’s a great cause, so put the date in your diary and get ready to join in the celebrations this year!”

In association with Winterhalter and The Caterer, you can nominate your kitchen porter for KP of the year. So, if you feel like your kitchen wouldn’t be able to function without the dedication of your kitchen porter than you can nominate them here: https://caterersearch.wufoo.com/forms/sqbctwy1r8qa9i/

The deadline is 9 August 2019.

And don’t forget to celebrate National Kitchen Porter Day on Saturday 22nd June.
